THE former Blainroe Hotel is to be turned into a nursing home if Wicklow County Council planners give a recent planning application the green light.
First Care Ireland Limited with an address at Fallsbrook House, Victoria Avenue, Bray, lodged the application with the council last month.
They are seeking change of use with minor alterations from the existing hotel building to a nursing home. They are also applying to replace the existing treatment plant that services the hotel and any associated ancillary site works at the hotel at Kilpoole, Wicklow.
The 17 bedroom three star hotel closed down in April 2001 with the loss of 26 jobs. Poor business and a bad location were two reasons given for closure.
